| Welcome to the homepage of the Korea Port and Harbour Association
Inaugurated in 1977, the Korea Port and Harbour Association (hereinafter the "Association")
has
contributed to the development of the port and harbour industry through the promotion of
common interests of its members.
With the conversion of the Association into a special purpose legal entity pursuant to the
Port Act of
2008, its role has been increased to carry out the tasks of developing the port
construction industry on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea.
With this added role, the Association, its members and employees determined to devote themselves
to the various tasks with more sincere efforts than ever before.
For 31 years and throughout the history of the Association, the role of the Association included;
the
promotion of friendship between the members, research and study of port construction, development
technologies and supply and distribution thereof, the execution of information technology project on
port construction; enactments for port design standards and promotion of international cooperation.
With the newly expanded role, the Association, through its entrusted and delegated tasks by or from
the
Government, will perform added activities such as safety checks and review of port structures,
consultant services on port design works and review of port designs in respect of value engineering.
The Association will utilize its own experiences, data and technologies in carrying out its role;
thereby, strengthening the financial foundation in which the Association may spontaneously and
positively contribute to the development of the port and harbour industries.
The Association will also make its best effort in promoting the interests and conveniences of its
members
by creatively improving the technological services to be provided to them.
The continued growth of the Association will only be possible through the care and affection of
the peoples
working in the field of port and harbour, as well as the Government. Accordingly,
we respectfully request your continued support of the Association.
